Percolative vortex motion in high-temperature superconductors.

چکیده
A model for percolative vortex motion in inhomogeneous superconductors is introduced. Near the percolation threshold the linear, frequency-dependent electronic conductivity is found to obey scaling laws. The percolation model for vortex motion provides an alternative explanation to the experimental finding of scaling in the electronic conductivity that is conventionally attributed to a vortex glass transition. The critical exponents derived from simulations of bond percolation on three-dimensional lattices are in satisfying agreement with critical exponents obtained from the scaling analysis of the conductivity of YBa2Cu3O72d twinned single crystals and ceramics. The electronic conductivity is calculated in an effective medium approximation and is compared to experimental data.

Absence of dipole transitions in vortices of type-II superconductors.
The response of a single vortex to a time dependent field is examined microscopically and an equation of motion for vortex motion at non-zero frequencies is derived. Of interest are frequencies near ∆/EF , where ∆ is the bulk energy gap and EF is the fermi energy. The low temperature, clean, extreme type II limit and maintaining of equilibrium with the lattice are assumed. A simplification occu...
متن کاملAnomalous Nernst Effect in the Vortex-Liquid Phase of High-Temperature Superconductors by Layer Decoupling
– Linear diamagnetism is predicted in the vortex-liquid phase of layered superconductors at temperatures just below the mean-field phase transition on the basis of a hightemperature analysis of the corresponding frustrated XY model. The diamagnetic susceptibility, and the Nernst signal by implication, is found to vanish with temperature as (Tc0 − T ) 3 in the vicinity of the meanfield transitio...

Vortex matter in high temperature superconductors has many peculiar properties such as melting of the vortex lattice, creation of new vortex-liquid phases etc. These effects are not seen in conventional superconductors. This is mainly due to the fact that HTc compounds are strongly type two superconductors with Ginzburg-Landau ratio up to ~110 that makes thermal and quantum fluctuations more pr...

We discuss the main features of Hall tunneling of pancake vortices in super-clean high-T c superconductors. The general formalism for the calculation of the lifetime of a vortex pinned in a metastable configuration is described. The results are applied to the problem of quantum tunneling of a pancake vortex from a columnar defect in the limit of a small driving current. An external magnetic fie...

The recent optical transmission experiment of Karräi et al. has probed the localized quasiparticle excitations of vortices in the superconductor YBa2Cu3O7. In this paper we develop a microscopic description of single vortex dynamics, based on the Bogoliubov-deGennes equations and self-consistency through the gap equation, to determine the response of vortices to a transverse time dependent elec...
